JOHANN JOSEPH AND HELOISE REULEAUX

Johann Joseph Reuleaux ("Masch.. Fabrik.*"), the son of Franz Xaver Joseph, was born on 25 November 1796 in Eschweilerpumpe. He married Heloise Graeser, the daughter of (Johann) Heinrich (1774-1857) and Maria Graeser on 20 May 1825 in Eschweiler. He died aged  only 37 on October 1833 in Eschweilerpumpe. They were our great-grandparents. After the death of Johann Joseph, Heloise married Ewald Friedrich Scholl (-1874); she died in Berlin on 10 April 1867.

The children of Johann Joseph and Heloise were:

Heinrich, ("Ingenieur*"), was born 11 September 1825 in Eschweilerpumpe (rather soon after the marriage of his parents, but Oskar Reuleaux's dates are unambiguous), and married Emma Remy (1829-1910) on 25 February 1850 in Bendorf (on the Rhine, about 8 km below Coblenz). He died on 15 May 1899 in Remagen (also on the Rhine, about 30 km below Coblenz).

Karl, ("Ingenieur*"), born 8 December 1826 in Eschweilerpumpe. He married Emma Hecht in Geisenheim (on the Rhine a few km E of Bingen), but no date is recorded; Oskar Reuleaux specifically notes that there were no children of the marriage. He died  19 May 1902 in Munich.

Louis, ("Fabr. Kom. Rat*"), born 15 May 1828 in Eschweilerpumpe. He married Johanna Victoria (Jenny) Koch (1825-1896) on 25 September 1851 in Coblenz, and died 9 November 1896 in Mainz.  They had four children Johanna, Therese, Agnes (who married Jules Wuidart), and Maria.  Louis Reuleaux was the lawyer in Mainz who provided Max with a copy of his father's will in 1884.

Franz was born on 30 September 1829 in Eschweilerpumpe, and died on 20 August 1905 in Berlin; he was the Franz Reuleaux whose career and achievements are described in the Biography section. On 26 April 1856 in Bonn he married Charlotte Overbeck (born 28 March 1829 in Antwerp, and died 26 July 1908 in Magdeburg). They had five children, Caecilie (1856-) who married first Max Goldstein ("Schriftsteller*") and then Hans Fochner ("Bildnismaler*"); Mathilde (1859-) who married Gottfried Schleicher; Oskar (1861-), the creator of the Reuleaux family trees, who married Marthe Kroseberg; Eugen (1866-) ("Ingenieur*"); and Else (1869-1873). Apart from Else, Oskar's siblings were apparently all living when he produced the family trees in 1920.

Julie (1831-1834) was born and died in Eschweilerpumpe.;

Marie (1832-1917) who married Ludwig Andreas Seifloh in Bockwitz in 1832; they were our grandparents.

Joseph (1833-1834) was born and died in Eschweilerpumpe.

* "Masch. Fabr.": is probably a machine maunfacturer; "Ingenieur": engineer; "Fabr.Kom.Rat":   "Kom.Rat" is probably an abbreviation of "Kommerzrat", defined as "a title conferred on distinguished financiers and men of business" (Cassell); "Bildnismaler" means portrait-painter; "Schriftsteller" is an author or writer.
