Johann Friedrich Voigt was born in Hamburg
on 28 August 1804, and died on 22 May 1886; we know nothing of his parentage.
He married Amalia Hiibbe on 14 December 1832; she was born on 5 January
1811 in Hamburg, the daughter of Johann Heinrich and
Maria Christine Hiibbe, and died on 26 February 1889. They
were our great-grandparents.
His career: (1828 LLD, lawyer in Hamburg; 1853 High Court of Appeal in Liibeck; 1870 Supreme Federal (later State) Commercial Court, Leipzig; retired in 1879 ) is described briefly in the manuscript notes on the back of the copy portrait now in the possession of Sally Long (née Hyde), and reproduced below together with that of Amalia:
